Olave Jeevana Saakshaatkara
A classical music concert celebrating the different facets of love

Manasi brings innovation to the traditional concert, with this creative production, where the theme of all the compositions is love in its myriad forms. She intersperses the songs with monologue, making an intimate and unique connection with her audience. Tasteful stage setting, mood-enhancing lighting and subtle movements add to the overall ambience of the production. This is Manasi’s answer to those who say Carnatic music is boring, or has lost its relevance.

Love is a many-hued emotion. It touches every living being in one way or another. From the caring glance of a mother as she puts her child to sleep, to the burning longing that lovers feel when they are separated, to the spiritual devotion of a devotee to the Lord, it pervades the entire world. Art mirrors life, they say. And indeed, one of the greatest inspirations for musicians, dancers and artists all over the world comes from the many forms of love.

Taking inspiration from this universal theme is ‘Olave Jeevana Saakshaatkara’- a celebration of love through a Carnatic classical music concert, conceptualized and presented by Manasi.

This live concert is in the format of a traditional Carnatic music concert (complete with Raagam Thanam and Pallavi). Along with traditional compositions from the concert repertoire, selections from classical poetry in a Carnatic form are presented.  The content is traditional, but the approach is modern.

OJS was premiered to a full house in February, 2008. Several shows have been performed since then, both in India and abroad.
